This horse was in a small Paddock at the side of School Lane, Haigh. I thought he was a splendid sight with the sun on his back.
this would be about 25 years ago. I wonder what became of him?

Sublime DTease. A work of art.

Strangely enough in our Art class on Monday we had tips on drawing the basic shapes of animals. Consequently I looked at the shape of this splendid animal as an oblong on four legs - I have saved the photo to my images - will be having a go in pastel!

Could very well still be cantering around with horses having a 25 to 30 years life span.

The experts tell us that a horse with a nice temperament and good balance should handle the twists, turns, and undulations of the Epsom Derby course rather well. I don't know if the horse shown here had ever been on a racecourse, but it certainly had much else to admire. I 'can't ride a horse' and know very little about them, but I think I could have walked this beauty around its paddock's perimeter - provided, of course, that my pal would have been happy with the prospect of incurring an eight-stone handicap (based on the fact that Lester rode at 8st 6lbs). A lovely photo.

What came of he
Who stood, breathing low.
Watching, calm and stoical
Twenty five years ago
In the whistling February field
Under Winter Hill?
Why, in the steaming bellows
Of my memory's meadow
He feeds there still.

There was a famous jockey that never lost a race. When asked how he achieved this, he replied, I whisper in the horse’s ear: "Roses are2 red, violets are blue. Horses that lose are made into glue.
