These were wonderful buildings. I was a library assistant in a Carnegie Library in Kent.
I hope this one is still standing. I used to pass it everyday on my way to school in Ormskirk

At the latter end of 1961, my wife and I lived in a flat very close to the Carnegie Library, until allocated a police house, at Goose Green in September, 1962, by that time I had been posted to Pemberton sub. div. working Newtown, and Pemberton

The five fellows on the left were all local hustlers. Was tough in Pem in those days...

still standing but isn't a library anymore. its offices now for a building firm,shame really it was a great library spent many hours in there when I was a kid.
