DTease, is your painting a reproduction on fabric?

There is a signature on it John G, in the bottom right hand corner but my tired old headlights can’t make it out.

No, it’s not on fabric Philip. I think it’s just a print of the original. Mind you i’m no expert on such things.

DTease: I've opened my screen magnification a few times and come up with this, the first letter looks like a fancy T, so Tabyner. Now all those who do landscape painting will say oh yeah? Or I might be totally wrong and they say who's he talking about. Anyway I hope it rings a bell to someone.

John G, it looks like the picture came with the frame so some one must have bought it originally as it is now. Mind you, it could be forty or fifty years old so maybe we will never know.

I'm no art expert - just an enthusiast -, but I'm confident that the printer wouldn't have chosen this 'lively' gold frame. DTease is happy with it though, and equally happy with the satin appearance of the excellent print that it surrounds. Both the artist's moniker ('or nom de plume?') and printing process could reveal more; this print could be part of a series i.e., Views of England, Views of Lancashire, … .
Don't give up on the artist's name, John!

John G/Philip, I'm informed by a better pair of eyes than mine that the first letter of the name could be a D, and her best guess at the name is "Dakagne".

DTease: I wouldn't have got that in memory of man, still as one famous bloke once said, all roads lead to Wigan.

Still no joy in confirming the artist's name, I see, but I believe the details, shown below, will lead you to your print's 'former life', and also to the fact that its image had been somewhat larger, on leaving the printer's workshop.
A smashing print nonetheless.

Blimey Philip! How the eck did you find that?. It's definitely the same picture. A brilliant piece of detective work on your part Philip.

I wonder if you could do something with this bit of information that I found?
I found on Google an Artist by the name of Donald DAKEYNE born 1931. Apparently he was an artist of Drawings and Watercolours and he trained at Bolton College of Art. I wonder if he is the one?

DTease, Dakeyne's signature on his painting 'Old Barn Longsleddale ...' is easily discernible - looks like he's your man.
Now where's that calabash?

I've had a look Philip, and you're right it's definitely the same signature.
I've enjoyed that. It's amazing how much interest you can derive from an old painting from a Car Boot costing no more than a couple of quid.
