Always known to locals as the Stone Alehouse if I remember.
The green van belonged to the Landlord ,Jim Mc Nulty. The Colliers Arms did particularly well on Sundays in those days when the was no music in Wigan (the old borough ) in the county ,Aspull Ince etc , pianos and mugs concerts were the order of the day . Licensing times also verified .
Thomas, did Jim McNulty have the Prince Albert at one time?
The last landlord of the Prince Albert that I remember was John McMahon. He loved playing the football table and would challenge anyone for a game. The stake was for half a Guinness.
Anyone know what happened to Tony McNulty
Yes, I'd be interest in knowing what happened to Tony, and his wife Marie. I use to work with Tony at J W Roberts at Hindley Green 1965-66, and he used to take me to the JWR drama club up at Horwich in that very same green van parked up outside the Colliers in the photo. Good times.
