The wisteria we had sadly to leave behind when I retired from St Mary's Lower Ince in April 2012. It was planted in the summer of 1997.

I know that wisterias require pruning, but not of their apparent ability to withstand topiary - a winged messenger shown here, perhaps.

I planted one at the rear of the house we had on Swinley Road in 1986, it never flowered even though I left it in situ until we left there 13 years later, I've no idea if it is still there or if it ever did eventually flower.

Erm... my wife has pointed out that the climber which is flowering is the Clematis Montana... the Wisteria which had been growing very successfully on the trellis frame to the left of the patio doors having expired a couple of years or so earlier.
Thought I'd better confess before a sharp-eyed gardener spotted my mistake!
