Ryland's Mill & Mesnes park in 1920 showing Kenyon Road as pretty much a dead end for road traffic - before Walkden Avenue and Mesnes Road had been built.

Great photo but I can't get my bearings here!
What is the long road in the centre of the photo?

Ian..Starting at the crossroads, to the left is Walkden Avenue East, the long road going up the photo is Kenyon Road
to the right is Walkden Avenue, and going down the photo is
the start of Mesnes Road. Across the top of the photo is Mesnes Park. Ray.

Thanks for this, I can see the house I was brought up in and where I learnt to ride a bike.

Thank you very much, Ray.
I've got my bearings now!
Now you have explained it, it's an even better photo.
Many thanks.

I spent the first 11 years of my life living in Kenyon Road (No 60). The buildings between Rylands and the houses became Hall's Bakery. There was a newsagents (Pownalls) next to us - now an empty space, a decorators shop next to them, a greengrocers and a chemists on the opposite corner.

Mr Grandad lived at No 54 Kenyon Road and I remember looking over the wall in the back garden at the Bakery
