A great family moment with smiles to boot, Tom. And your lad looked all set to take full command of proceedings, didn't he. It also appears that he wore a sportsman's sweater and a white shirt collar flipped over it from beneath ('shades of 1970's Brian Clough'), just as I had done when I was his age.
Our tap-room gang of seven twentysomethings spent the best part of two weeks camping in the New Forest during the mid-seventies, and found time to putt-putt down the Avon at Christchurch on boats similar to that which is shown on your photo.
We also found time to visit the splendid Christchurch Priory, but found its 'miraculous beam' to be a bit of a disappointment; the real miracle was the clearheadedness of the chap who designed the priory - what a building! Ahoy!
