The lads would be delighted spotting a namer.

This photo. is already on the site under PLACES: WIGAN NORTH WESTERN STATION. It was taken by me in 1959 with a Kodak Brownie 125 which I got the previous Christmas.

Thanks Lyndon, A great nostalgic photograph. I was wondering where it had come from. I found it in the wiganworld file of photos on the computer and didn't realise it already been uploaded.

Notice how the station sign says wigan ,and not wigan north western

Funny enough, this was one of five Brits that eluded me during my time spotting (1964-1968). The Brits were fine locomotives and always brought excitement to spotters 'downt nick'.

The signs on the concrete lampposts said 'Wigan', but the large freestanding signs said 'Wigan North Western'. I guess size something to do with it.

Hi Lyndon. I would like to use this photo as a basis for a painting. Can I have your permission?
