David, what a brilliant painting, you're very talented....and thank you for showing it.
David thats how I remember the crossing. My sister & I would have arrived at the tracks where the boy with the bike is standing. We used to sit on the fence waiting for the train.
I loved the painting of the engine that was posted the other day & the snowy railway scene too. I am luckly where I live, we have a heritage railway & I can always count on getting a wiff of the smoke engines give off. Pure nostalgia !
David you should put more on as there are many railway enthusiasts on here. I love the one inside the railway compartment with the couple looking out of the window. I know someone who would love that!
I dont like to criticize because it looks like you have spent a lot of time on this painting David , but to me with my eyes it looks like the train engine is leaning over to the right.
And if I had painted it I would have done away with the crossing (which is skewiff)and brought the train more to the front.
Fantastic david
Subsidence Mick, needs a bit of reballasting. 🤔
if the crossing was skew wift it would not run parallel with railway sleepers common sense
Ignore the critics David. I bet they couldn't do any better. It doesn't matter if it not completely accurate, it is a wonderful evocative painting of a location I knew well.
Great painting David, must have brought back many memories as you worked on it.
I used to trek from Whelley to this site and and I've put a few pennies down on that piece of track hoping it would be flattened by a highly regarded 'namer', sometimes having to trespass further down the line trying to recover it, and hoping the man in the signal box didn't come up the line to chastise us or threaten to tell the bobbies, happy days , still have one of the train spotters books.
Dear David. Nice capture of one of my favourite areas. We used to raid the Beech Hill bommies and steal wood furniture etc for our bommie on Whitley Fields near Eskdale Avenue. A little bit risky, dragging trees and planks across the rails , but...
David if you read this can you email me please. You haven't left any contact details.
