OMG a Stanier Black Five, just great.
Cheers Orrellite.
A named black five, would this be Ayrshire yeomanry.?
Not a Black 5,Garry. It's a Jubilee class.
It's either 45626 Seychelles or 45726 Vindictive.
Another wind-up, Garry? As you well know, it's a Jubilee class...A Jub!
Could be 46596 Arethusa. If it is, it may well have been on its way to Crewe for withdrawal.
Thanks Orrellite. Spent many happy hours there with my Ian Allen book hoping to tick a few namers off. Used to stay for ages with a bottle of corporation pop and a few cheese and tomato butties. Different world then thank goodness.
Can't make out the number but looks more like a Jubilee class.
Do you know what, Gentlemen?.....I haven't a clue what it is but it's beautiful. I wish with all my heart we still had Steamers. They had a soul.
Good photo, looks like the number has been intentionally blocked out. I wonder why?
Number got lost in the transfer from 35mm slide some years ago, sorry not got the original now
Ken R, the numbers not been blocked out, the photos blared all over. Still a cracker.
Are you sure its Whitley crossing and not a sidings some were the rails a very rusty for a main line and theres not alot of steam about.or smoke
There's not much steam about because it's trundeling down towards Wigan.
Sorry, should have said "trundling".
