Ron, do you know any of the history like who lived there.

The Hall was situated near the present PPG glass fibre works in Leigh Road.
In the nineteenth century it was the home of the Diggle family. James Diggle began his working life as a grocer in Bury and eventually came to be the owner of collieries in Westleigh.

It's not the same as Higher Hall, that was further south on the other side of Bikershaw village. According to the HER that's where the Diggles lived, not here. The record says that in 1838 it was owned by executors of the late Henry Bullock & occupied by John Wainwright.

fascinating! I am descended from James Diggle's sister - Mary Elizabeth - she was a twin. I don't suppose "Higher Hall, that was further south on the other side of Bikershaw village" is still standing?
Gordon (in Chicago). Also , whereabouts in Texas is "Flora"?
