Another area I knew very well.BHS had another entrance at the back by the Market Square.
Fabulous! Ron, you put some belters on here.....where on earth do you find them? Thankyou.
It is now B&M Helen and the back entrance can still be used. Great set of pictures.
Good memories how wigan used to be then, those were the good old days with the shoe shops and bhs. Thanks Ron.
I think Ron goes back in time, takes a few snaps then returns .
Bought many pairs of shoes from Timpsons and other shops like Dolcis and Stead & Simpson. In fact I still have a pair of slip on shoes bought from K Shoes in 1974 when the shop was part of Pendleburys situated across the road from Timpsons.
Next to Timpson's, but not on the photo, was Freeman, Hardy and Willis shoe-shop, and Lawrence Isherwood's brother Gordon had a shoe-shop down Wallgate. Wigan was lovely in those days.
The number of shoe shops we had in Wigan we went from one shop to another looking for the right pair. 👠
One of my earliest memories was of the cafe in this BHS (before they extended back) There was only one other entrance at the back of the shop then and once they got rid of the cafe they put another entrance at the back.
If you come out of the door from the now B&M,the old letter box from BHSis still in the doorway Very interesting photos.good to see.
