Had the railway bridge been taken down, by the time this photograph was taken?.

Not sure Albert. Central Station was demolished in 1973. The bridge could have gone first. I lived on the 10th floor of Woodcock House overlooking the bridge. It was there when we moved on around 1965 but I'm sure it had gone when I left home in 1973.

what was Palatine minerals ?
any link with numerous buildings around the borough called 'Palatine buildings' ?

Palatine Minerals were so called because they produced bottled mineral drinks. They were known locally as the Pop Works.There were always lots of broken bottles behind the entrance gate and we used to search for the bottle screw tops to throw into the water in the old baths in Millgate. We would then dive down to get them.
