Ron - The photographer appears to have been on the verge of leaving Billinge Hill Wood and facing a further ten minute walk along the Lane to its exit on Upholland Road, where it would then have been possible for him to have seen the Hare and Hounds pub - situated about a hundred yards to his right. The building shown on the left of your photo can only have been the old pumping station.

I've seen this postcard before. There is a Bobby's Lane, near Eccleston south of Billinge, off Burrows Lane / Church Lane. It used to be a farm track leading to Brooklands farm (1909 OS map). The Billinge website has this image. Maybe it was under the administrative district, before boundary changes?
