These photos were taken by Jack Smith, onetime assistant headmaster of Woodfield Primary School on Wigan Lane. He lived at Giant's Hall in the mid sixties (the photos were donated to Wigan Arch Soc by his sister-in-law Liz Smith).

Left to right - feedwater heater, boiler chimney, old ventilation chimney (replaced by electrically driven fan on the surface).
