Photo dates from the 1960's on the corner of Wallgate and Alker Street. At the end of the Street was a potato merchant but I have forgotten the name. On the opposite corner stud Peters Wood Yard and opposite that was the Long Pull Pub

Excellent photo, there was a discussion a few weeks ago on the two Golden Lions on Wallgate, named top Lion and bottom Lion as one ex-postman told. Swales brewery, I think, was behind the Bowling Green at Newtown, someone will know whether or not it was.

I remember the Long Pull Pub, my aunt and uncle had that for a time, Bill and Molly Woosey ( sadley both passed away now ). Before that it was the Garrys ( my friend Pat Garry's parents ). I loved going in there It was 3 floors high, the second floor was living area and top floor bedrooms. Lovely memories.
