Further to Cyril's comment on Standishgate photo 28637 - timber studding rescued from the mediaeval buildings on Standishgate, at the time of their demolition.
Presently in the old Bluecoat School building, next to the parish church.

That was something I did not expect at all, well done to whoever had the foresight to salvage these historic mediaeval remains and to Mick for submitting.

I think it might be possible to view them at present - the building is usually open as a charity shop, in the run up to Christmas.

Yes, I often go in when it's open as a charity shop. Worth going to see the timber and the people running the charity shop are very nice.

Going with the History Group from Westhoughton on a tour of the Parish Church next week so I will tell them about this timber! Hope it is open in the daytime!
