Photograph showing the Lodge Gates I think that this may have been one of the entrances to Standish Hall?

Spent many a time there in the 60's courting whilst the boyfriend waited for the last bus back to Wigan.

There is a similar lodge building on the right hand side of the Orrell road , Pemberton. Lost among all the newer buildings now I should think. The grandmother of a childhood friend, Carol Dickenson of Holland Moor, used to live there.

Is this the gate to the Old Boys' rugby pitch where WGS had to play because there was no usable pitch near the school? In the 1950's it was occupied by an elderly man who I later found out was a distant relative with the same last name.
