In the early 1950s the One House was used as Aspull Library, got me reading books at a very early age.

There wasn't much else to do in the fifties Den apart from playing out-especially if there was no tv in the house. I wouldn't have had it any other way - you can't beat a good book -even now!

Vb, my old mam was an avid reader, with three young children to look after she didn't have time for much else. She used to say that books allowed her to see, in her head, the wonders of the world that she would never have had the chance to see otherwise.
