Went down the alleyway, by the side of the Clarence, on umpteen occasions, going to the Prince's Cinema.

The name of the alleyway, Albert, is actually Clarence Yard.

Also John. Stood in front of the Clarence, on umpteen occasions, doing point duty, junction with King Street. Hail, rain, snow, or blow.

If you go pass there today, you'll find all the benefit/dole folk smoking away waiting for the doors to open (in the morning) not a nice sight to see in town when kids are about.

Albert that was his job. I worked in construction rain, sleet, snow, hail, wind, thunder and all. But I wasn't sheltered by buildings.
Gary's right the pub is now a dole meeting den.
