Can anybody tell me please if they know what was the other shops called on that row as my granddad always used to go to get some ingredients to make his jam with.

Boons or Boones chemist was one of the shops, if my memory serves me right.

Was it Shannon's, Julie? They were down towards the market square end of the shops, and sold everything from poultry feed to different types of bread flour, yeast, dried fruit, and preserving sugar.

Also countdown men's clothes shop was roughly in the middle opposite an entrance into market where the two sweet shops were situated
