Does anyone know what this is about? It was photographed in Elnup wood Shevington.

Most probably a boundary marker, to mark the place where land belonging to one owner met with that of another owner. The history shop might have an old tithe map of Shevington that would shed more light on this.

I know this stone I was told from very good sources in the sixties when John Pit was operational that it was a stone marking the grave of a Pit Pony who was well loved in the mine.
