Regarding the photo of Wigan Carnival I think it is taken in Scholes passing the Harp Inn there is a photo on Places -Scholes then page six where there is a photo which resembles it

1920's? Look at the cars. Look at the clothes. 1950's would be nearer the mark.

Could be sixties. Length of ladies dress and, possibly preparing to demolish a shop on the left. One building missing there?

The missing building was a shoeshop/repairs named Timpsons as I recall. I remember the man who owned the shop. It was one of the first to go. It was a good quality shop and there was another shoe shop a little further on down. There was no need to go "up town'" for anything really ....it was all there on the doorstep!
