Nice clear photos Arthur. Can you remember what year they installed this new lift bridge ? I had a boat moored at Preston Brook marina in the 70's and I think there was an old fashioned wooden swing bridge at Bickershaw at that time. I seem to recall it taking me the best part of three days to get from Preston Brook to Wigan top lock on my way to Leeds. Regards. Ozzy.

Arthur. This bridge is a lift bridge not a swing bridge the
old bridge was a swing bridge a lorry turning right its N/S
front wheel went through the footpath and had to be jacked
up to get it out I was there when it happened then they put
this lift bridge in but I can't remember the year D.C.

Calling in at every pub on the way would explain why you took so long, Ozy.

It would have been rude of me not to have done David. However, I'll admit, the vessel was handling somewhat erratically on the section between Dover lock and the Bamfurlong hotel.

I like to find out these places and compare with today - nearest I can get on the Google Maps

There's not much left as a reminder apart from this swing bridge
