I know it says Cooperas on the photo Ron, but it is actually Copperas Lane.

Yep definitely Cooperas Lane, Haigh postaly used 1909

Copperas is another word for iron sulphate, used in various industrial processes. The name of the lane must have some connection with the old industries round Haigh. I believe "Cooperas" on the card is just a spelling mistake.

John - I understand Copperas was processed in the Haigh, Aspull and Blackrod areas up until the early 19th century.

Correct John and Mick. that's where the name of the lane comes from. Spelling mistake on the card.
