A run down building which was once the RED ROCK STATION before being renovated into a private dwelling

It was also the red rock british legion, as well as a station on the Wigan to Blackburn line. My father frequented the legion on occasional Saturday evenings and my memories of the building were the Christmas parties there, and my first visit from Father Christmas. Happy memories Ron.

I seem to remember reading (but can't put my finger on exactly where) that one of the stone-built buildings at Red Rock Station was a private waiting room, kept locked up for the exclusive use of the Earl of Balcarres and his family.

Even in the good old days of the railways, the train service stopping at Red Rock was so infrequent you'd imagine his lordship would just get his man to drive the carriage into Wigan to catch a train there.

FAO Ron Hunt. Dear Ron, I live in Red Rock Railway Station and contributed to the http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/r/red_rock/ website. This picture could do with posting on this site. Have you got anymore pictures before renovation? Regards
Stephen Senior
