I'm not too sure about the London Bus, but they are both Northern Counties Bodies as Tom says. The bus to the right is for South Yorkshire Depot, it's a Leyland Fleetline reg number LWT 99V and fleet number 99.
Well done, Tom.
Who designs the buses, Northern Counties or the bus companys?
I've drove many cars and vans in my time, I all so had a driving job with HGVs on coal, but never driven a bus or coach. I feel as though I've missed out. Look at the size of buses today.
How long would it take to build a bus of this size, from start to finish, incl paint shop. Once the chassis have been delivered.
They build a bus in about 800hrs nowadays but alot of the materials are outsourced.
When I worked at NC, Week one the chassis was in the Fitters shop where it was strengthened and modified to suit whichever bus body style had been chosen by the bus company, weeks 2 & 3 the chassis went into the body shop where the chosen body was made and fitted, top deck fitted, then moved down the line where it was then painted then trimmed out, then the air doors etc connected up. Finally fluids were added to the cooling system and off out for road test!
