Nice to see this photo as my grandfather and great grandparents lived at no.1 Woodcock Row in 1901. Does anyone happen to know which end of the row that was, as you look at the photo?

John, my wife's family lived here in the 1950's and she said that No1 is on the right, nearest the camera.

This looks more like a pier than the one at Wigan.

Many thanks, Pieman. I've seen this photo before and always wondered which end it would have been.

Brings back great memories of Crooke where I grew up in the 60's, playing on the tippler and joining all the residents "Kebbing" for coal in the canal. This was using a lobster pot style contraption with rope on,throwing it in the canal and dragging the bottom for coal which had fallen off the barges (purely illegal of course)Happy days,Beltin.

Paulw. How are you? I made a couple of Kebs for your Dad Cyril, sadly we've lost contact with your mum

There was a rough path between The gap between the houses on the right of the path and this lead through to Shevington and came out in Vicarage Lane. Used to use it when on push bike and late at night to get home instead of using the s bends . Also there was also a path off which came out on Wigan Lower Road opp to the road up to where John Pit was .

Also thanks for making those Kebs for Cyril it saved us a lot of money for fuel bills in the 60's.
