Thank the lord we don't have to put up with those old screamers now. Orbison was the most over rated singer ever.

Cool cat: you need to go and have a large glass of milk wash that mouth out,and when you come back have some respect for your elders.

I was at this concert, heard Marianne Faithfull sing recently, she still sounds as bad as she did that night. Can't carry a tune in a bucket.

Actually, by early 1965, the hits had dried up for the big O. His career was at the crossroads. However, Marianne Faithfull had a few gems up her sleeve, helped largely by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. As for the others, the Rockin' Berries still had a few more minor hits and Cliff Bennett would score a top ten hit a year later with a Beatles' song 'Got To Get You Into My Life'. It would have been interesting to know what the back stage atmosphere was like with this rather diverse line-up.

No thank you John G no one on that posters deserves any of my respect. I have a vast knowledge of the subject and I am never wrong about this scene man, smoke a charge and hang loose Poppa.

Comment by: Pw on 5th July 2015 at 20:02

Cool Cat.You are Jarvo!

Comment by: G .W. on 5th July 2015 at 20:10

One of the greatest crooners of all time that American fella.

Comment by: Roy on 6th July 2015 at 11:23

Cool Cat, you obviously don't know a good performer when you hear one, Roy Orbison had a 3 to 4 octave range and was brilliant. How come you are right and hundreds of millions who have bought his recordings are wrong ? 7 million of his recordings have been sold since he died. He had a hit span of 32 years, made 92 singles and 51 various albums.

My dad still has this very poster today. How can you call Roy Oribson an awful singer?, he had a fantastic voice. No doubt the haters are the thypical riff raff crowd we have today who don't know what talent is. What do we have today? talentless wannabees, x factor drivel, scruffy dressed bands, and Glastonbury (an excuse to get drunk, take drugs and have a mud bath). I heard just before Roy Orbison came on stage, he started to sing "Only the Lonely" behind the curtain to warm up the crowd, then appeared. I also heard that the Rockin Berries where probably the highlight of the show. Not sure about Marianne Faithfull, but she's known for having a right foul mouth. In my view, I think this time in the 60s was the turning point where good decent singers like Orbison who dressed well and had that gentelman-ness to them where being phased out of the music scene and replaced with overrated rubbish like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc, with the intent, as some believe, of pushing the drug agenda.

Jarvo, only in your opinion overrated.

Comment by: Jonno on 19th July 2015 at 09:34

Garry, you've got the wrong end of the stick again, Jarvo was asking a question, not making a statement.

Comment by: John G on 20th July 2015 at 20:05

Giovanni, Did you have one of those split pants moments filling in for P J,I saw Mr Proby at southport Theatre two years ago,he looked like a smurf bald head and white fluffy beard.
