I love the ladies in their long skirts, and I think shawls looked so graceful.

I was born at number 683 Atherton Road. Can anyone tell me if this is on this stretch of road?

If I've got it right, Organ St is just out of shot on the left and the first building on the left, which looks like pub, is now a Doctors surgery.
The shop on the right is still trading and is now selling Wedding Wear. The Datestone over the shop says 1880.
Excellent pic Ron.

683 is/was on this stretch of road, but the original 683 may have been demolished, there's some newish houses in that area now. That address might not exist now. It was in the area between the Spinners pub and the Swan pub. Anyone from the past would still recognise this stretch of road, the original buildings still there.

Great photo of a by-Gone time .You can just make out Kikpatricks/Dunlop factory. My mam and gran lived near the factory at 571 Atherton Road .My mam used to tell me when they knoked the chimney down all the residents were told to put their wireless'on full blast.

Cliff you are quite right with the location,Organ Street is just out of view on the left.On the right just past the shop in the second terraced house was the Doctors Surgery this was in the fifties.Four lampposts down on the righthand side is Swan Lane
