My lovely late brother used to live first turn on the right of this painting..and isn't Ray an absolutely first class artist.
In the fifties I used to call on a friend of mine who lived in Makinson Avenue. There was a small shop on the main road where the toll gate had once been. The shop was the only one I've ever known to sell milky Vimto ice lollies!
As Maureen says a really good painting.
What a lovely painting. Maureen, it's not Giovanni this is it.
No Marie..his name is over the photo..but Giovanni does paint.
My ears are burning, girls! lol
Great painting though. Acrylics can achieve oil painting results but with more flexibility.
Great interpretation Ray. Nice to see blue skies over Wigan!
Giovanni, why don't you show us one of your paintings..please.
Maureen
It may not be of Wigan but Lancashire themed!
Giovanni,I'm sure no-one will mind that.
I agree with Maureen Gio.
Lets hope the site is amicable to displaying my painting, girls!
I'll take the blame Giovanni..but I'm sure they won't mind just this once.
Nice smoke! Can be difficult to capture accurately, done a good job!
I'll dig out some paintings over the week-end and try and submit one! Thanks for your encouragement, girls!
Scanned a few paintings but the colours are like Aladin's mum....all wishy washy....mmmmm!
That happened to mine when a friend put my painting of her dog on the ww boards.
There used to be a small shop on Ladies Lane that sold milky vimto lollies, also 'jubblies'. It was run by a lady named Marjorie Teskey(mother of Dianne Teskey who works at Wigan History Shop. Her mum also sold delicious roast pork and ham, which she had cooked herself. The shop was only demolished in the 1980's.
