This is my Great Grandad Walter Ashcroft who was Club Steward at Pemberton Labour Club ( also known as Enfield Street Labour Club ? )in the 1940s -1950s ? He died in 1957.
The photo is taken outside the club.
They lived in Enfield Street with their children,Margaret ,Nellie, Ethel (my Grandma ) and Ernest.
Prior to becoming club steward Walter was a miner at Pemberton Colliery and was allegedly involved in the `Battle of Enfield Street ` during the miners strike in 1926.
