Raymond, you are a very talented artist, of that there is no doubt. However I would like you to educate me about something, why is the main person first in view leaning at approx 20 degrees? He seems completely out of geometric alignment with the rest of the painting. You obviously pay a great deal of attention to detail and I am simply curious as to just what I am missing. Great painting by the way.

Quite good Ramondo!
Is this painted from a photo or insitu? If its the latter, you're fingers will have frozen!! LOL

Comment by: Albert. on 4th January 2015 at 17:05

Syd. It maybe he has just slipped on an icy patch. Very likely in those conditions.

Comment by: Raymond mclaren on 4th January 2015 at 18:41

Well Syd it was a windy day and he was rushing to the shop as you do, also one leg is hidden from view and it balances him up ok, he didn't fall from memory, LOL,
(painted frm my photo! too cold)
I may take another look at the original painting for you,

Or just come out of the pub!

Comment by: irene roberts on 4th January 2015 at 19:52

The remark about coming out of the pub was only meant as a joke. Hope He just seemed to have walked a path from near The Crofter's Arms. Hope I didn't cause offence.

Comment by: bill 7 on 5th January 2015 at 09:31

He's leaning into the wind and weather walking towards the Crofters

This is Market St.

Comment by: irene roberts on 5th January 2015 at 18:44

Yes, Church Gates is over to the left, out of sight in this painting.

Comment by: Syd on 6th January 2015 at 12:04

Now the painting makes sense! I didn't realize that he is half sozzled, has one leg, and is in a hurry to another pub.Really does make sense when you get the whole picture!!!!

Well Irene
Church gate is this very place,
I always though it was further down
so I Google Mapped it, and the Paved area IS Church Gate' in Google! .... check it out'

Raymond, I have only ever know Church Gates to be the little passage diagonally opposite Library Street which actually leads down to Wigan Parish Church. I didn't know Church Gates extended further than that or I wouldn't have made the comment. I am happy to stand corrected and to gain new knowledge.

Comment by: Maurice on 7th January 2015 at 11:56

Hi Raymond, fantastic paintings, but I think Google have got it wrong,I believe Irene is correct, the sign for Church Gates is on the start of the little passageway,Google have got a few road names wrong.

Comment by: ray on 9th January 2015 at 15:17

Thanks Maurice you may well be right, Google have got street names wrong before,
