How lovely! I have only lived in Abram since 1974 and have never seen those buildings, and the bowling green looking as it does on the photo.

What does look better today, than yesterday, Irene.

I would say it is later because I seem to remember that bricked area on the front of the building was wood. You used to go to the right hand side of that building to hire bowls or putters for use on the Putting Green and the toilets were at the back of it. Mr. Lowe was park-keeper in my time.

Correct Brody, That brickwork was only put on mid sixties.
Myself , Roy Dickinson, Schulz, Stuart Westhead, used to hang around in there almost every day and night 69/70.

Those type of waste bins were certainly not around in the late 50's. Wasn't Tom Winstanley something to do with Abram Council?? Did he live opposite the Park?

Broady and John,
Thanks, I hadn't spotted the difference with the pavilion, I just took a guess at the age of the photo.

Thank you so much for the happy memories of my childhood. the park was one of the places we used to come & play. I loved playing on the "Banana Split" swing, I have never seen one since.

Garry, I think it looked really nice in those days, going off the photo, but I still love Abram Park. Having had three dogs to walk, I have certainly done my bit walking round there! Sadly, the bowling green was ruined due to football games being played on it and bikes being ridden over it.

Peter Lowe, the park keeper kept Abram Park looking great. I played many a game of bowls on this green as a kid. Such a pity the state of it now.
