Wigan Pier night club door staff & owner?.

With the nightclub at Wigan Pier finally meeting it`s end this week,I thought that I`d upload this snap taken back in 1988.

I seem to remember that the one on the right was possibly called Vinny,if I remember rightly.

I haven`t a clue as to where all these lads are now Cronnie.
I stopped going in there & lost contact when I stopped going clubbing around 1991 ish when I started doing shiftwork & on call.
I seem to remember that one of the DJs in Wigan Pier around that time was a guy who went by the name of DJ Welly.

In my day they were called Bouncers.

There's Bouncers and Bouncers! Those at the Blackpool Mecca couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudd! I remember it all kicked off one time and they went missing!

Johnny, in my day there was always fear of these bouncers, they were top dog. I know it's different now but I,m going back.

I remember an altercation at Uncle Toms in Farnworth. The locals took a dislike to us Wiganers and the bouncers waded in with truncheons. A few of us checked into Wigan Infirmary. It was Halloween and some nurses fed us pumpkin pie! Some consolation as we arranged dates with them!

Forget Welly and Russ Winstanley, Baldylocks. The best DJ was Tony Jebb from Blackpool!
