Albert,
How did you access Trenchie pond and is that Ince Moss Pit in the background?

Comment by: Albert. on 16th November 2014 at 13:41

Aubrey. We got to the Trenchie by cutting across the field at the rear of Ainscow Street, passed the clayhole pond, passed Spring View Wagon Works, and jumped across the little river, the Trenchie was about fifty yards from the river. I don't think it was Ince Moss Colliery, Aubrey. In fact, it is so long ago, I don't know what the place would have been, sorry.

Aubrey,Lads&Girls coming from Lower Ince would come down Donkey Lane across from St Mary's School,us from View could go over little bridge over line going to Wagon Works behind St Mary's church.or cut through Wagon Works and ( borrow) some wood to make our rafts, cross Litle River and go to our Outdoor Pool. Got some photo's but been in an Album since about 1957/8, took with a Brownie 127 not very clear see what I can do

Having had another think about it Aubrey, it looks, in the distance, railway traffic. It may be that line that passed by St Mary's School, and the works in the distance, could possibly be Ince Forge. I'm only speculating.

Albert,
Looking again it probably is Ince Forge.

Colin. Was Park Webb works, originally Ince Forge?

Comment by: Colin Harlow on 18th November 2014 at 15:12

It was Ince Forge Albert.
The company was founded by William Park, the firm later merged with Joseph Webb in 1969, and became Park Webb LTD. In later years the firm became Dobson Park, later Gullick Dobson.
