The man talking to the Police officer has a look of James Higson, who was the lodge keeper for the Wigan Lane entrance to the Haigh Hall estate, in the late 19th century.
The windowson the groundfloor in the distance was the living room of my good friend Lawrence Wilson who was the live in cartaker with his wife Veronica, she had a job outside of the hall but lawrence was was the full time caretaker and they lived in the hall in the early 60s my wife and I spent many a weekend in there with our good friends
Looks like the colour's been added to a BW shot.
Great bit of history.
The colour on this view was applied by hand onto a sepia photo to make it more appealing than the normal drab sepia view, this was probably done by the publisher who was H. Dalton of Chorley. Being coloured by hand every one was a little different, I also have a copy of this postcard but mine has more pink and a lot less yellow.
a beautiful photo i love the sepia and colour xx
