e ainscough. What was the significance of the banner class. Did they create the banners? If not known, Probably The Reverend David, can enlighten us.

I think the Vicar on the photo would be the Rev. Wills, he was vicar of UpHolland from the 1880s till the late 1920s and is buried in UpHolland Churchyard.

Definitely the Revd. Wills, AW. Known for travelling around the district visiting parishioners on a motorbike, something of a novelty in those days.

sorry for the delay Albert. The banner class was a group similar to the men's bible class. I remember mum telling me they made the banner between them, doing all the sewing themselves. Behind the original photo is the year 1924.
