Another brilliant shot Jean! That wall still stands today as part of the perimeter of the houses built on the site.
Just past the two bay windows on the right,108 Walthew Lane, the place of my birth.
Dennis is right Jean nice photo it depicts a time when Platt Bridge was a nice village ,then 2 yrs later they built giro city and the rest they say is history.
Jean. Didn't this road lead down to Dr Duffy's surgery?
I lived in the house to the left of the entry, no 126(just visible)from around 1978 to 1983.
Albert,
Dr. Duffy and Dr. Murphy were in Liverpool Road, near the junction with Davies Street and Neville Street.
My Auntie and cousins lived at 110 in the 1950s. They moved to Cyprus about 1956.j4
Thank you Jean. I am getting Walthew Lane mixed up with Neville Street. I remember it was a very long street you tramped down, after getting off the bus, after Skew Bridge.
Albert,
I think you are getting your bridges mixed up as well. Skew bridge is at Newtown near the Warrington Road entrance to Alexandra Park.
Sorry Jean, about getting things muddled up. I was referring to the bridge, after you had passed Moss Lane, travelling from Spring View, towards the King Billy pub.
I was married there in 1965
I lived at 126 as well John x
I used to go to Ernie Brooks butchers for my Mam when I was a kid in Millers Lane. across the fields before they built the Miners Wellfare Club.
