My Dad,Jimmy Darbyshire back row on the extreme right.

There’s a lot going on here, including Charlie Chaplin at the front - I love the “papier mache” head at the rear - inventive and creative reflections I assume, of the themes of the day - 90 years ago.

Wonder why it is Platt Street Jazz Band Abram when Platt Street is Platt Bridge? Looks like the photo was taken in Abram School Playground.

I have asked myself the same question. I do not remember my father stating where the photo was taken,but the background does not seem familiar with Abram School

If the building in the background could be St. John's vicarage the photo would be in Abram school yard looking towards Abram Park. I am not sure

Maybe be they were taking part in a carnival, I remember jazz and kazoo bands in parades. They wouldn't have had far to travel from Platt Street. Some of my relatives lived round the area round Platt Street, they were called Beesley, does anyone remember them?
