I remember this only too well it were the coldest water south of green land. My mam made me a swimming costume by sewing up the neck of a jumper and I had to put my legs down the sleeves. When I was in the water the jumper floated about and surrounded me like i was stood inside a great big red jellyfish. When I climbed out half the cossie was still in the water.and the neck had come undone too...

I remember it well. The water was always about half a degree above freezing - even in summer Brrrrrrrrrrr

I remember days out at Blockpool Open Air baths and it was always cold, even on a hot summers day. When we were there once Jayne Mansfield turned up in a pink Cadillac. I think she turned the Illuminations on that night. Pantone any idea what year that would be ?

Jayne Mansfield switched on the lights at Blackpool in 1959
