Brian & John Thilwind sat on the banking at the side of the East Lancs road in the late 1950s, then it was a single road with 4 lanes, it still had the roundabout as did Lane Head Haydock before the M6 came.

I walk along the East Lancs on my travels, and I just smiled when I saw this picture, because you couldn't be sat like this now!!! Whats the saying 'The good old days'!!

I used to go to the “new road” for picnics on the grass bank to see the odd car come past every 10 minutes...jam butties and corporation pop
