Been in the church many times, but never seen the bells before. Great picture.

I lived in Great George St. and every Sunday morning when a lot of us wanted a bit of piece and quiet and a well earned lie in,what did we get? dong dong dong dong dong dong dong dong dong,no ding, just dong dong dong dong dong dong dong on and on and to this day, 60 odd years on, I can still hear it because it's burned into my brain.

Thank you for showing this photo I have been up bell tower's 100s of times when I worked for the ORDNANCE SURVEY alas my last visit up one nearly became the end of me ,I was up a church tower in ESSEX St.Mary's LITTLE BADDOW, when I came a cropper and had a terrific accident ,so seeing the belfry of the town I live in back memories.

P.S. From previous comment who took the photo ,question can anyone arrange a visit to the top of WIGAN PARISH CHURCH?

I arranged a private tour of the Parish Church a few years ago for WW members only. Only about 6 turned up.. As usual everyone said they were coming then on the night, came up with some lame excuse why they couldn't make it.. So I won't be arranging any more visits.

Well to say im disappointed Ron is putting it mildly so after reading your comments Ron I suppose iv'e no hope but on the offchance Ron if for whatever reason you go up again please ,please don't forget me.
