My mother used to work at the top end of the building, Leyland Paints. It was at the end of the Petticote Lane extension.

Dennis, there was a Leyland's Paint Shop, (paint, wallpaper etc.),in Ince when I was a little girl; wonder if it was the same family business?

Irene - I don't know about your local shop at Ince, but the Leyland Paints shop on Market St under the verandah was part of a chain selling paint and decorating materials.

Just a little more on Leyland Paints....The company was founded in 1922 by the Jones family in Leyland, Lancs. It started off under the name of, "Leyland Paints and Varnish" and it's products are sold world wide.
