I think the girl in the sailors uniform to the left of the photo is my mum Anne Whitter from lower Ground.

The woman in the white coat and scarf is my mother, Alice Byrne. She organised the celebration . We got sweets from Santus's. I was about six and rode on the flat back pulled by Paddy, a horse belonging to the local farmer. I was dressed as "Victory" with my trident made from a brush handle with carboard prongs. Our Brian was Mrs Mop. Betty Baybutt was the Victory Queen. So many memories.

The girl in the uniform next to Barbara Meadows is my sister Selina Ambrose from Gathurst Lane
