This photo or one similar hangs in the Tudor Inn, Mossy Lea Road, Wrightington. It does not look like that today - lots of those trees have now gone and the houses are offices. Nice to see these old photographs

Love this photo - I wish it was like this now instead of offices. Look how clean it is. I was born in a terraced house in Wigan and this shows where the rich lived, I wonder who they were and what they did.

I always think it would be lovely to be a fly on the wall when I see photos like this one...only for a day mind.

Maureen, it would be nice to go back to those times and be invisible but, as you say, only for a short time. I wouldn't want to live in those times, no matter how wealthy I was.

No Derek..I would imagine that unless you were really wealthy,life could be a real struggle..the elegance was there only if you could enjoy it.
