it's on the up fast the good old class 90's they had a DVT unit at the front so they did'nt need to uncouple at euston. these loco are still going strong to this day but they mostly work freightliners going north to south .
DVT unit ?, Deep Vein Thrombosis ?
Cullie When I was at Manchester Vic a couple of weeks ago, A train came through with massive yellow carriages, no windows. I was wondering what kind of freight it would have been carrying and to where.
DVT : A Driving Van Trailer is a purpose-built railway vehicle that allows the driver to operate a locomotive from the opposite end of the train. This meant the loco did not have to uncouple and run round at the end of every journey. This saved time and avoided the issues caused by constant coupling and uncoupling.
ann221 the train you had seen at man vic would of been the network rail test train. its job is to find alinement faults in the track
Cullie Thank you
Thanks David re the DVT explanation
