The two public houses on the left, The Bulls Head, and The White Lion, both eventually , taken over, and incorporated into Lowes. The recent photographs of Lowes on Album, generated debate about these pubs. So when I saw this photograph, I thought would be of interest to viewers of Wiganworld.

The bottom quarter of this photo give an interesting snapshot of ladies fashion of the time, also just how was this photo taken from a height, an omnibus perhaps.

Tom was there a date on the photo? Looks to be in the thirties. A very evocative scene though of how life was and the leisurely pace of it. So much different than today.

This picture is deceptive it looks to be the thirties by the rears of the two cars the left one looks like a 30's Morris 8 and the cntre one a 30's Standard. But,are those tram lines on the right ? The shop fronts on the right are 30's other things look older.Falstaff ale was Walkers Warrington .

Alan, there don't seem to be any overhead power lines in view for a tramway. I think the larger car in the centre of the road is a mid to late thirties Humber. Whatever make it is it is certainly too modern to have been around when the trams were discontinued in 1931.
