What lovely pictures Ron. Why the hall was allowed to get into such a state is beyond comprehension. Being brought up in Highfield we spent many hours playing around the woods of Winstanley Hall just hoping that the gamekeeper wouldnt catch us.

I recently visited wigan and surrounds having family links with the area and call me a silly aussie but tho'i knew of the halls disrepair, i still imagined you may have access to its walks . the sign said guarded by manchester police dogs . don't they have a lovely run .

We spent many happy hours in Winky Woods when our kids were little. Such a shame that the Bankes family living in Cheshire have let the Hall go into this state,.
