This is the end of Penson Street which at that time was a dead end with a path through the small park onto Wigan Lane. I believe in the 1950's the Pier Alarms shop was then a general grocers shop.

The shot shows Wedge Alarms shop at 107 Wigan Lane, (forced to move from Greenough due to the road change) believe it was a grocers before. the house next door was demolished by WMC to make a new Road. The Labour club is not shown here and is to the right.

The photo is of Wedge Alarms not pier alarms and it opposite the public house the Bowling Green
